The Big Book Of NLP Techniques: 200+ Patterns & Strategies of Neuro Linguistic Programming

The Big Book Of NLP Techniques: 200+ Patterns & Strategies of Neuro Linguistic Programming

*** This is the new and improved edition (4th) of The Big Book of NLP Techniques. ***

At Last, A Concise Encyclopedia of NLP Patterns!

The Big Book Of NLP contains more than 200 patterns & strategies written in an easy, step-by-step format. The methods include a full array of the fundamentals that every practitioner needs, such as the Swish pattern and The Phobia Cure, as well as advanced and unique patterns, such as The Nested Loops method and Learning Strategies. Many of these techniques were never published before and cannot be found elsewhere. Perhaps more important, and unlike most other NLP books and programs, the patterns are written with great care and testing to ensure that they are clear and can be followed immediately. If there was one really useful book on NLP… …it would be full of NLP patterns!

Everyone who learns Neuro Linguistic Programming knows the power of the patterns and strategies that employ the skills and knowledge of NLP. Whether you have just been introduced to the basics, or you have mastered advanced material and patterns, this work provides you with more than 200 patterns in a concise reference format, with step-by- step instructions.

We have selected each pattern for its value and relevance. If you know the pattern, you can refresh your memory; if you want to learn it, you can do so without wading through any “fluff” such as ridiculously long explanations of NLP terms, or “magical stories” of healing and success. I chose to make this book clean of theories and fiction stories, and packed it with the most practical guidelines and advice.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming: Volume I (The Study of the Structure of Subjective Experience)

Neuro-Linguistic Programming: Volume I (The Study of the Structure of Subjective Experience)

There comes a time when it is both useful, and appropriate, for the purpose of continuing to expand our understanding of the universe we live in, for entirely new fields of study to be created. Separating new from old, exceptions from rules, and useful from previously unquestionable. So learning and experiences from entirely divergent fields have the opportunity to combine knowledge and experience into configurations that allow further growth, understanding, and impact upon ourselves as a species. It is in this way that neuro-linguistic programming came into being. We wish at this point to separate our NLP from the many fields from which it draws information, from the many fields for which it has application. And in this way have greater clarity and freedom to delineate NLP’s own methodologies and basic purpose.

Practical UML Statecharts in C/C++, Second Edition: Event-Driven Programming for Embedded Systems

Practical UML Statecharts in C/C++, Second Edition: Event-Driven Programming for Embedded Systems

Practical UML Statecharts in C/C++ Second Edition bridges the gap between high-level abstract concepts of the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and the actual programming aspects of modern hierarchical state machines (UML statecharts). The book describes a lightweight, open source, event-driven infrastructure, called QP that enables direct manual coding UML statecharts and concurrent event-driven applications in C or C++ without big tools.
This book is presented in two parts. In Part I, you get a practical description of the relevant state machine concepts starting from traditional finite state automata to modern UML state machines followed by state machine coding techniques and state-machine design patterns, all illustrated with executable examples. In Part II, you find a detailed design study of a generic real-time framework indispensable for combining concurrent, event-driven state machines into robust applications. Part II begins with a clear explanation of the key event-driven programming concepts such as inversion of control (“Hollywood Principle”), blocking versus non-blocking code, run-to-completion (RTC) execution semantics, the importance of event queues, dealing with time, and the role of state machines to maintain the context from one event to the next. This background is designed to help software developers in making the transition from the traditional sequential to the modern event-driven programming, which can be one of the trickiest paradigm shifts.
The lightweight QP event-driven infrastructure goes several steps beyond the traditional real-time operating system (RTOS). In the simplest configuration, QP runs on bare-metal microprocessor, microcontroller, or DSP completely replacing the RTOS. QP can also work with almost any OS/RTOS to take advantage of the existing device drivers, communication stacks, and other middleware. The accompanying website to this book contains complete open source code for QP, ports to popular processors and operating systems, including 80×86, ARM Cortex-M3, MSP430, and Linux, as well as all examples described in the book.

*Focuses on core concepts rather than tools which are always changing allowing the reader to continue to use this information with various projects
*Provides a complete, ready-to-use, open source software architecture for small and large embedded systems
*Includes an extensive example using the ARM Cortex-M3 throughout the book highlighting issues programmers and architects encounter in everyday life

Linux System Programming: Talking Directly to the Kernel and C Library

Linux System Programming: Talking Directly to the Kernel and C Library

This book is about writing software that makes the most effective use of the system you’re running on — code that interfaces directly with the kernel and core system libraries, including the shell, text editor, compiler, debugger, core utilities, and system daemons. The majority of both Unix and Linux code is still written at the system level, and Linux System Programming focuses on everything above the kernel, where applications such as Apache, bash, cp, vim, Emacs, gcc, gdb, glibc, ls, mv, and X exist.

Written primarily for engineers looking to program (better) at the low level, this book is an ideal teaching tool for any programmer. Even with the trend toward high-level development, either through web software (such as PHP) or managed code (C#), someone still has to write the PHP interpreter and the C# virtual machine. Linux System Programming gives you an understanding of core internals that makes for better code, no matter where it appears in the stack. Debugging high-level code often requires you to understand the system calls and kernel behavior of your operating system, too.

Key topics include:

  • An overview of Linux, the kernel, the C library, and the C compiler
  • Reading from and writing to files, along with other basic file I/O operations, including how the Linux kernel implements and manages file I/O
  • Buffer size management, including the Standard I/O library
  • Advanced I/O interfaces, memory mappings, and optimization techniques
  • The family of system calls for basic process management
  • Advanced process management, including real-time processes
  • File and directories-creating, moving, copying, deleting, and managing them
  • Memory management — interfaces for allocating memory, managing the memory you have, and optimizing your memory access
  • Signals and their role on a Unix system, plus basic and advanced signal interfaces
  • Time, sleeping, and clock management, starting with the basics and continuing through POSIX clocks and high resolution timers

With Linux System Programming, you will be able to take an in-depth look at Linux from both a theoretical and an applied perspective as you cover a wide range of programming topics.

Nonlinear Programming: Theory and Algorithms

Nonlinear Programming: Theory and Algorithms

COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE OF NONLINEAR PROGRAMMING THEORY AND ALGORITHMS, THOROUGHLY REVISED AND EXPANDED

Nonlinear Programming: Theory and Algorithms—now in an extensively updated Third Edition—addresses the problem of optimizing an objective function in the presence of equality and inequality constraints. Many realistic problems cannot be adequately represented as a linear program owing to the nature of the nonlinearity of the objective function and/or the nonlinearity of any constraints. The Third Edition begins with a general introduction to nonlinear programming with illustrative examples and guidelines for model construction.

Concentration on the three major parts of nonlinear programming is provided:

  • Convex analysis with discussion of topological properties of convex sets, separation and support of convex sets, polyhedral sets, extreme points and extreme directions of polyhedral sets, and linear programming
  • Optimality conditions and duality with coverage of the nature, interpretation, and value of the classical Fritz John (FJ) and the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) optimality conditions; the interrelationships between various proposed constraint qualifications; and Lagrangian duality and saddle point optimality conditions
  • Algorithms and their convergence, with a presentation of algorithms for solving both unconstrained and constrained nonlinear programming problems

Important features of the Third Edition include:

  • New topics such as second interior point methods, nonconvex optimization, nondifferentiable optimization, and more
  • Updated discussion and new applications in each chapter
  • Detailed numerical examples and graphical illustrations
  • Essential coverage of modeling and formulating nonlinear programs
  • Simple numerical problems
  • Advanced theoretical exercises

The book is a solid reference for professionals as well as a useful text for students in the fields of operations research, management science, industrial engineering, applied mathematics, and also in engineering disciplines that deal with analytical optimization techniques. The logical and self-contained format uniquely covers nonlinear programming techniques with a great depth of information and an abundance of valuable examples and illustrations that showcase the most current advances in nonlinear problems.
